Macau

Our side trip to Macau, the first European settlement in China. This tiny piece of land was turned over to Chinese control in 1999 from Portugal. It is an hour trip by high speed hydrofoil to Macau from Hong Kong. Macau is still part of the two systems, one country policy that applies to Hong Kong. So Macau controls its own immigration and local affairs. They stamp your passport, but like Hong Kong you don't need a visa if you are American. Macau has the only Casinos in China, of which the flagship would have to be the Casino Lisboa. Foder’s travel guide describes Casino Lisboa as “utterly bizarre”. This is probably the PG way to discribe this place. I wish we could have taken pictures inside. The Double D club in Macau was outstanding also.
